the reason they came back is because their family of four will soon become six.

this weekend, matthew married jill.

and while they were here, ben asked kristin to marry him.

alot going on in one week. but they couldn't be happier! and i'm so glad to get them all together.

i did maternity pictures for this couple and now their little girl is one year old. i can't believe how fast time flies...and how cute she is! her name is evelyn and she has the sweetest looks. i enjoyed every minute.

At long last, my ipad arrived! And he, Charlie, as I've taken to calling him, is everything I dreamed he would be! Don't you love it when that happens? When something you saved for, dreamed of, waited impatiently for actually turns out to be as great as you thought it would be? So let me tell you about Charlie. As you can see above - he has post it notes on him. This was the first app that I paid for. A whole 99 cents! I love it! Today I actually sat there and tried to think of things I needed to do just so I could have a post it note on my home screen.

...he plays pandora stations for me as I get ready in the morning. It's just so nice to put your mascara on as Jack Johnson sings for you...

...He can be a slideshow(with music from my itunes) sitting in my office...

...Or a copy of Pride and Prejudice downloaded for FREE from ibooks sitting on my lap. If I'm not sure of a word Miss Jane Austen wrote then I simply tap it with my finger and up pops the dictionary with a definition. I am truly mesmerized by the ibook thing. It's crazy to know that I could have just about any book I wanted in my hands in a matter of minutes. I almost want to get a job that makes me travel a lot just so I can sit in airports and read...

Mason is in love with Charlie, too. He does chores for iPad time. Don't judge. That's mothering at its finest! :) And look below, he's doing math! That makes it all okay... He also entertains Grant with a glowboard that allows him to make masterpieces just by dragging his chubby finger across the screen.

If I need to know what the weather will be like for a shoot, he's got my back. (I do realize that weather.com would do the same thing, but Charlie just makes it sooo much cooler!)

He is also a calendar, a notebook, a dvd player, an ipod, the web, my deliverer of emails, a scrabble board, an alarm clock, a recipe book, ...pretty much anything you can think of! Like I said, the one who my soul loves...and I have several of you guys out there to thank for him!
So, thank you!!!

Oh, my! How on earth did this picture of Grant get here? : ) I guess I just have to tell you, since the picture just magically uploaded on its own and all, how absolutely adorable it is that he calls these binoculars his "camewa" and tells me to smile for a "peecher". And how that makes my heart melt into a big ol' puddle...

It's late April, people!

If you saw this post, "I want", then you know that I wanted an ipad.
I then earned the clams to buy my ipad doing 7 mini-sessions that were quite fun. :)
On April 3rd, Apple released the much anticipated Ipad.
I went to Best Buy that day to see it.

I
LOVED
IT.

But. I held out for the 3g version that was to be released in "late April." I pre-ordered my darling on April 3rd and have since devoured any news of when "late April" actually is. It's a very ambiguous little phrase.

Finally, it was reported on the internet and then later confirmed with a phone call to Apple themselves, that wise souls like myself who pre-ordered their ipads, would receive them on April 30th while others would have to wait until May 7th.

It's April 26th and they haven't even shipped my baby yet!
It's late April, People!
Send him my way!

He has hair this beautifully red and his name is Blaize. Isn't it perfect? Oh, he's a cutie.

He was also very excited about practicing his new found skill of walking so we stuck him up on dad's shoulders for a bit. :)

Chelsie, Blaize's mom, also taught with me at Glenn. I told you my story about me and Leslie. Chelsie was just as wonderful to work with. And, seriously, she dressed like a rock star every day. 6th graders love her. And I sure do! She has such a de-stressing personality. I could be near a mental break down and then I'd go hang out in Chelsie's classroom for a bit and suddenly the world was a fun happy place again!

I think this picture is so sweet. I love any picture where sweet pudgy toddler hands are doing something. Sometimes I just stare at my own son's hands andtry to memorize how perfect they are...and try not to cry thinking about how big they'll be someday...

our goal for this shoot was to show the three personalities of this senior...all dressed up, cowgirl, and casual, fun-loving. i'm thinking we did a pretty good job. her eyes are incredible, her smile is contagious, her legs are stinkin amazing, and her personality tops it all!

i mean, really! where do you get eyes like that?!

and legs like that?!

and a face that looks incredible with a smile or without?!

and a personality that just beams?!

and may i just say that the wind we had this day was incredible! there's nothing like a girl's hair blowing in the wind to add some natural glamour!

this shoot included two cute brothers and their adorable cousin. they had so much fun on the trains. and i definitely enjoyed capturing that.

how handsome is this one?! watch out, mom. the girls are going to be flocking.

and the love shown here was in no way fake. they were truly happy to be brothers and showed it. you can't make that stuff up!

and then there was this girl. holy smokes! one of the most adorable little things you've ever seen! this was also to celebrate her turning one.

Whew! I had several sessions and a few reschedules on the calendar even before I posted the ipad/minisession/celebration of spring post. Then every mini-session date was snatched up. And the weather couldn't have been better for every shoot. This resulted in a shoot spree that made me feel like I was in a constant whirlwind! In the best kind of way! I'm still editing a few of the last sessions, but I wanted to give a little glimpse into the last 15 days...

Day 1: Adorable lovebirds

Day 2: The familiar cuteness of Cali & Avery, who I've been photographing for a year now!

Day 3: Holy sweetness! I adored photographing these two cuties!
Day 4: Uber cool senior gal

Day 7: Mr. Senior 2010

Day 8: I traveled all the way to this beautiful ranch to shoot this senior and his sister. Let it be noted that I was heartbroken that no horses were used during the session... : (
Day 9: Oh.my.goodness. Sweet babyness on day 9.
Day 10: College senior whose last shoot with me was fillled with cold and rain...try #2 was a success!Day 11: More cute family love.
Day 12: Yet another Mr. Senior 2010. I love seniors! All of 'em!

Day 13: My second shoot with these four beautiful children. They're also extremely polite, like wonderfully, perfectly polite. We teachers really appreciate that... :)
Day 14: Then there was this crazy bunch! Hee hee! Just kidding, guys! They were so fun!
Day 15: And then it all ended with these beautiful girls...

whew! And now it's 12:51am and I have to teach 54 4th graders something about Texas History and how to write coherent stories in the morning, so I'm going to bed! :)

This sweet momma-to-be is Leslie.
I taught 6th grade with Leslie for one year. She is an absolute ray of sunshine.
My fondest memory of teaching with Leslie happened when we took our 6th graders on a field trip to San Antonio.
I will pause this story here to say that if you should ever become a teacher and you are given the opportunity to take your team of 120 6th graders on a 31/2 hours bus ride to play all day in another city, do so. It'll be worth it. BUT. Also, take tranquilizers for the bus ride home.
It'll really be worth it.

Leslie and I had assumed that the students would be so very tired from our excursion that they would quickly pass out on the bus ride home and we would have a quiet, calm return trip.
So very NOT the case.
They were insane. We spent a good while hushing and shushing and "detentions-can-be-given-ing" and perhaps...yelling. And then finally, Leslie and I are standing there in the aisle of the bus, she's on one end, I'm on the other and there are 40 some odd 6th graders between us, all hopped up on a day's worth of caffeine and crazinesss...
Leslie looked at me and said, "Well...if you can't beat 'em, join 'em!"
and laughed her wonderfully contagious laugh.
So, we did.
I joined in a card game being played in the back and she did something similar in the front. And would you believe, all students and teachers made it home safe and sound that night?

That story really has nothing to do with her pictures or her having a baby really, but i felt like sharing. : ) I know Leslie is going to be one wonderful momma, and I'm so excited for her!

I'll be perfectly honest. Newborn sessions still scare me. For one reason. They have to be indoors 99% of the time and that takes me out of my comfort zone of natural light.
It's scary!
Light is everything!
And not having enough of it is down right terrifying for a photographer, well, at least this photographer. I'm just confessing my weaknesses here! Stick me in an alley with broken windows and I'll be happy as a lark. But in a room with one window? I'll start sweating bullets. Seriously.
Having said that, in the midst of my lack-of-light panic attacks, I do absolutely love newborn sessions. Because they're so wonderfully tiny and wrinkly and perfect. Fresh from heaven perfect.

And, oh, how I love seeing new parents with their baby. It's a love like nothing else. It's like, until you hold your first child, you've never even really understood love. And I get to freeze frame that new love forever.
(or try to in between sweating bullets, shaking and questioning everything I thought I knew about photography)
I was lucky during this session because there was an abundance of natural light filtering in through lots of windows, so i got some shots that I absolutely love....this is my favorite.

But this one makes my heart beat a little faster, too...

...I will try to be as cool as the seniors I photograph and wear cowboy boots and a sundress. And when I do, I give you all permission to say, "Jenny, dear, you just can't pull it off." And I'll shed a tear, and do it anyway. One of these days...
So, I absolutely loved this session, as I do all senior sessions. Cute cute girl, amazing clothes(as always), great light, and THE most beautiful eyes my camera has ever seen.

I took these two lovebirds out for pictures a few weeks ago. They kept saying, "We're not gonna be good at this..." and then they'd giggle and look at each other. Which is basically the most perfect thing couples can do on an engagement shoot. :) We had so much fun running all over town in some intense wind (that I can't manage to avoid), and got some fun shots!

Have I ever mentioned my love of old, preferably slightly busted out windows?

I absolutely, 110%, completely and totally love doing senior sessions! They're so stinkin' cool! And dressed in clothes that make me green with envy! And they will do anything I ask them to do...Katie was absolutely no exception. I dragged her all over downtown shooting in some pretty crazy wind (it won't leave me alone!) and even when I missed a turn TWICE and made us loop around a block two full times before parking in front of a random alley, she kept on smiling. Oh, and that tu-tu, of course, has a cute story behind it...when in doubt, wear a tu-tu...

Oh, how I wish I could bottle up the sun and pour it into pictures just like this every time...

We almost blew right away during this shoot! It was crazy! Thirty minutes before the shoot began, it was a beautiful sunny day...then all of a sudden, blustery gusts came whooshing in!But it didn't stop these two from being all cute and cuddly...not one little bitty bit!

I don't normally think that San Angelo has the most beautiful fall foliage, but about two weeks ago the river area was just beautiful. And this family and I took advantage of it!

Last year I photographed these two cuties on what had to be the windiest coldest day ever! It was nearly unbearable! But that didn't stop all three of us from laughing our way through the shoot. I got some of my favorite shots that day, because they were both so...so giggly! It was wonderful.

And this year I got to photograph them again with their new brother, and he was every bit as giggly and sweet as his siblings. Thankfully the weather was absolutely perfect this year so smiles were once again easy to come by.

Changes for Sprinkle of Grace

Dear Friends & Customers,

Due to some changes for my family, after months and months of soul searching, prayer, and considering what would be best for my family, I have decided to return to a full time teaching career. There are more than a few reasons for this decision that some of you may already know, but detailing those reasons is not the purpose of this email.

Sprinkle of Grace has truly been a dream come true and I never want to see this little adventure come to an end. However, teaching is a very full time career. There is no way I can continue to do Sprinkle of Grace as it is now and be the kind of teacher my students will need me to be. Not to mention be the wife and mom that my family needs me to be. But it breaks my heart to think of walking away from Sprinkle altogether - I love it! And all of you! I love being a teeny tiny part of your lives for a bit while I capture you and your loved ones being real. I love giving you images that I hope you will treasure for years to come.

So, I have decided the only way I can continue sprinkle, teach, and be wife and mom without completely losing my sanity is to only do sessions two days a week from August 1st to June 1st. I will only be booking sessions on Thursdays and Saturdays only. And because I will have such limited openings, I am going to start asking for a $50 deposit to reserve your session date. It will be refunded if weather or I, for some reason, cancel the session.

I am very excited about this new turn my life is taking, even though a part of me is sad to see my focus shift from Sprinkle of Grace. But when I remember that my new focus will be inspiring creativity in the minds of 70 or so 4th graders, I smile. I love teaching. I love Sprinkle. Getting to do both is a blessing I won't take for granted.

I just hope that you, and anyone you may have told about me, will know that if I have a session with you in the future, I will still be the same photographer, with the same passion, creativity and love for photography that I was before I became "Mrs. Wilde" once again. I will still do everything I can to give you the best images I possibly can. In June I upgraded my camera to a far better model than I was previously using and have had some amazing results from recent sessions. That new addition to my camera bag, as well as a continually growing understanding of the intricacies of photography will ensure that I will give you the best photographs I possibly can.

My calendar has already started filling up. Please don't wait to get on the calendar if you already know that you will need family pictures for Christmas cards, or one year pictures for your baby, or senior portraits or whatever the case may be.

As I've said before, I am amazed at the response I have received from Sprinkle of Grace and I am so thankful to be living out this dream come true. I hope that my camera and I will continue to bless your lives the way you have blessed mine for many years to come.

Whenever I scroll through the images I capture after a session, I hope to have some gut reaction. I hope that at least a few of the pictures will make me smile or give me chills or, the best, make me tear up. When I saw the image below, instantly my eyes filled with tears. Then a few days ago I got an email from Lacee saying that only a few days after our session, their baby boy was delivered prematurely at just 34 weeks. The pictures immediately meant so much more to me. What if we had waited one more week? I asked Lacee if I could snap just a few shots of their new baby boy before he was released from the hospital yesterday. Rylan is the last image of this post. And he is perfect in every possible way.

When I got a phone call about this shoot I was soooo excited. She said they lived on a ranch and they wanted some shots with their horses. I absolutely couldn't wait! First, to have a new location is always fun if not a bit challenging. And second, horses! And while I could write quite a bit about how badly I wanted to jump on one of the horses, or how their land made me ache for the hill country, or how the smell of a leather saddle on a dusty horse might be one of the best on this earth, I'll just say that I loved every minute of the session...and how the pictures turned out.

Stacy and Mark had their engagement session on what had to be the hottest day Ev-Er! Man alive! Even in the shade of art alley we were all panting, but I was the only one complaining. I always feel bad when my "studio" is hot...or cold...or flooded. :) Anyway, their pictures really turned out quite sweet!

I have been dying to post these wedding pictures but wanted to wait until the bride and groom had seen them...It was such a relief to see them fall in love with the pictures. Their wedding was so fun and beautiful. It was in the bride's parents' back yard and that just made it so simply perfect. Lauren's dress was the cutest thing I've ever seen, as was Tadd's reaction when he saw her coming down the aisle. There's just nothing better than boys getting teary eyed over their bride...About ten seconds after we shot the last formal family following the ceremony it started to pour so there was a mad dash to the tent. But, despite the rain and unusually cold temperatures for a Texas May day, the wedding was wonderful way to start the season!

I photographed Kamryn for the first time about 9 months ago and captured the above shot. One of my all time faves. And this shot is just so pink and girly. So simple. So beautiful.

The other day I got to photograph Kamryn with her mom and dad. And I managed to catch those eyelashes again... I like the imperfections of the image below. Her hair slightly scattered about. Her dress sorta bunched. Not a perfect pout, just a little girl mesmerized by some pebble on the ground. But the thing I like the most about both of these shots is that they capture her innocence and tiny-ness. Squishy shoulders. Soft fine hair. Round baby cheeks. Snuggly baby skin... In 10 years, these pictures will bring back her baby-ness more than any smiling-at-the-camer-shot every could. Don't you think?

I never get to use this door because it's never down, and if by some miracle it is down, it's in the bright glaring sun. But finally clouds and the closed door happened on the same day! And I love it!

There's just something about daddies and daughters...

This family drove in from out of town for their session. On the day of their shoot, we had the wackiest West Texas weather ever. I checked the weather a dozen times and every time I looked it was different - rain, no rain, thunderstorms, sun...it was ridiculous! So we decided to meet a bit early to beat the rain. When we arrived at our destination, it was pouring. "Let's wait a little while and I'll call you." We go our separate ways. Not 15 minutes later, the sun burst forth and the rain vanishes. It was amazing! And I'm so glad because it was so fun shooting this family and their little guy. Man, he was a mover and a shaker!

there a lot of emotions I love to capture with my camera. I love when siblings hug on and tackle each other in the same second. I adore couples that giggle when i ask them to kiss. I am in awe of seniors who are so very confident in their own skin. I can't help but smile at mothers of toddlers who spend the entire session chasing their two year old. But there is something extra special in photographing parents with their newborn. There is just so much love. It's palpable. They're smitten. To their very core.

This pretty momma works with my husband. She emailed me and asked me to do her maternity session. At the time of her email, I wasn't for sure I knew who she was. About two weeks before her session, she was sitting at our table at the ASU sports banquet. Let's just say when I saw her bright smile, her beautiful eyes, her perfect round tummy...I couldn't wait!

I love this family. It might be because Crystal is one of my close friends. Or it might be because their little boys have big beautiful eyes and smiles that melt your heart. Or it might be because of the bright colors of their wardrobe, but whatever the reason, I love this family and am so glad Crystal, who is quite the photographer herself, asked me to photograph their family.

I love children sessions and I love girls, (i have two boys. Girls have dresses and bows and long pretty hair and sweet smiles and their pockets are not typically full of bugs.) and I especially love when those two loves combine. You can see why...

At first, I'll admit it, I was a little nervous about doing senior pictures for boys. I'm used to girls! But, after these two guys, I can't believe I was ever nervous. Their pictures are some of my favorites now...they just oozed coolness.

Guess where he's thinking of going for college?

I asked Reece and his mom if they cared where we went for his shoot. They said not really. So I took them to a junk yard! It has the coolest old tractors and cars and even an old school bus. It's my new favorite location - who would have thought a junk yard would be so cool!

I went to Odessa for Nick's pictures. I was a little nervous because I had no clue where we would be taking pictures. He, his aunt and his mom and I drove around looking for spots before we started shooting. At first we went to all these pretty gardens, but it wasn't until they drove me to all the old beat up buildings downtown that I knew the shoot was going to be great. This session was just so fun - and Nick was such a trooper. We took pictures for a good two and a half - three hours. And he kept on smiling.

About five seconds before I took the picture below, I told nick, "now a serious face - no smile." Immediately he started cracking up. And so did I. I could not get a straight face out of him for a good five minutes. It was hilarious.

Finally...the serious face. But that grin above is better, don't you think?

I have been busy. Busy-like-a-bee busy. Busy like I-need-a-new-word-for-busy busy. Busy like...well, you probably understand. And due to such busy-ness i have neglected this blog terribly. So...Here, in no particular order are a few of my favorite shots from a few recent sessions. More will be coming...and then eventually I'll post pics from every shoot like I was doing. I promise. maybe...

This little chick-a-dee was so fun to shoot! There wasn't a bad shot of her! Her eyes...beautiful!

Her older sister knew how to light up the world with a smile too...

...and their family pictures were amazing. When I said, "now get close and huggy" they totally knew what I meant.

For mother's day, these girls had a shoot for their mom. It was so fun!

And this little angel was so fun to photograph. Someday I'll have to post the series of pictures of her going from a super grinny little thing to a wee bit pouty in a matter of seconds. It's a progression I capture during almost every shoot with children under 5. But what's great about their pouts - they're almost cuter than the grins! :)

Oryan and Tori were so great to shoot. Except I called the guy Jeff like 12 times because the day before their shoot I had a shoot with another couple and the guy's name was jeff. And I'm just terrible with names! Terrible. But they forgave me. And we got some great shots!
My favorite thing about this couple was how easily this military guy could pick up his bride-to-be! They were just so cute together! Giggly...that's a good thing to see in an engaged couple. Lots and lots of giggles.

Ahhh, reid, how I love thee. I photographed this little guy when he was about 8 months old and captured the picture above. It is one of my favorite shots ever. Ever. A few days ago, I got to photograph him again...sigh. His eyes make me swoon.

I love pregnant mommas! They're so excited and sweet and beautiful in a way that only pregnant women can be. And then there's the soon-to-be daddies. And they have a gentleness and nervousness that is so endearing. It's just such an amazing time. It's just cool to capture these moments before the world is blessed with a new baby.

Since starting Sprinkle, I have come to the nonnegotiable decision that I must have a little girl at some point in my life.
Because I need a reason to buy a headband with a gigantic flower attached.
And a tutu that has more layers of tulle than should be mathematically possible.
And tites.
And sundresses.
And little mary janes.

Because, if I don't have a little girl, shoots like this one, where little girl sweetness just oozes in pink perfection, will just be terribly sad. I need a little girl...or at least get one on loan for a bit...

It's easy to imagine why I was looking forward to this little guy's one year shoot for quite some time - I mean look at those eyes! And that grin! And his chubby little squeezable tummy. One year olds are maybe my favorite age to photograph. Their faces are so expressive. Their wobbly steps are adorable. And, really, no matter what they're doing, they just look so darn cute. It makes my job so very easy...

I had a shoot today with my first official senior of the year. Bailee was super cute and super cool. Like cool enough to wear boots with a sundress. I can't do that. I've never tried, but I know it. I'm just not cool enough. But Bailee rocked it.

Anyway, here are a few of my favorites...so far. There are dozens and dozens I haven't even gotten to yet... Did I mention she was cute?

Her eyes - especially in the shot below - are really quite sickeningly beautiful. I fear my self-esteem is going to suffer if I have to photograph too many of these beauties....
